Very good summary. What is the definition of “carbon credits?” I keep hearing of it and am wondering what it is, and is it legitimate?

Greenpeace has released their first iPhone app: an iPhone version of the recycled Tissue Buying Guide. For more info, go to: http://www.greenpeace.org/usa/news/new-iphone-app-version-of-tiss

Greenpeace’s Recycled Tissue and Toilet Paper Guide makes it quick and easy to determine which paper products are easy on the Earth and which are not. The app, created for Greenpeace by 3rd Whale and available now for both the iPhone and the iPod Touch, recommends the greenest toilet paper, tissues, paper towels, and paper napkins, so consumers can be sure they aren’t flushing ancient forests down the drain.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium has a great seafood guide app to help make educated decisions about which fish to purchase. One of my favorites.

I work for the National Wildlife Federation, where we’ve partnered with the new WildObs iPhone application, which you can use to record your wildlife observations as you’re outside connecting to nature.

It picks up your location, records a photo, and allow you to make any comment or ID on the species. It will also post it to your Twitter account and into the National Wildlife Federation’s Twitter feed: http://www.nwf.org/wildlifewatch/Twitter.aspx

Thanks much for including 3rdWhale in your article!

things to know:

It’s $1.99 not $2.99

We are the first green mobile app developer to be a member of 1% For The Planet!

For every app purchased, we’re donating 25 cents to 5 different green/environmental NGOS

We’ve chose the first 2 (EarthShare.org and Natural Capital Solutions), and we are in the middle of the process of you the public nominating and now voting for which ones should be the final 3. You can check out the top 10 and vote, now through Friday July 10th, here: http://bit.ly/gTz9q

We look forward to hearing from you there, and any requests/suggestions for what else you’d like to see our app do for you!
